About 75 children from Vremenny still do not attend school, locals report

In Dagestan, only 35 children from the settlement of Vremenny of the Untsukul District go to schools, and other 75 children have not started their studies, local residents report. Officials from the Education Department for the Untsukul District deny the information.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that starting from September 18, a counterterrorist operation (CTO) is underway in Vremenny adjacent to the village of Gimry. At the very beginning of the special operation, law enforcers cordoned off the settlement of Vremenny. Most of the local residents left the village in the course of the special operation.

Children from families evicted from the settlement of Vremenny during the special operation are enrolled in schools in other towns and villages of the republic, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Labazan Magomedaliev, the head of the Education Department for the Untsukul District.

According to the official, at present, no local residents live in the settlement of Vremenny: all of them were evicted. They live with their relatives throughout Dagestan and even Chechnya. Labazan Magomedaliev has added that the number of evicted local residents includes 109 schoolchildren, and most of them 69 pupils go to the school in the village of Gimry. The school has arranged a second shift especially for the new pupils.

In their turn, the Vremenny residents claim that more than half of the children of the evicted families do not attend schools. "I can say how many children from the settlement of Vremenny go to school in the village of Gimry: 3 children go to the first form, 3 to the second form, 5-6 to the third form, and no more than 9 children go to the rest forms. Several other children go to school in Makhachkala and Buynaksk. Finally, we have even counted the total number of children, who attend schools: no more than 35," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a woman from the settlement of Vremenny, who introduced herself as Patimat.

Another woman of the village, a mother of three school-age children, has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that her children do not attend school, since they have no warm clothes. The woman has also added that the children have no textbooks and even no stationary items.
