Lawyer and his friend arrested in Dagestan on suspicion of sexual assault and extortion

A Dagestani lawyer and his friend are suspected of sexual assault, robbery, extortion of 2 million roubles, and arms trafficking. At investigators' request the court put them into custody.

According to investigators, on October 11 in Makhachkala, the lawyer with his friends, while suspecting the former's civilian spouse of infidelity with her employer, used violence against them, and also committed sexual assault of the victim. These actions were recorded with a mobile phone camera.

Then, the lawyer took away 200,000 roubles from the victim, and demanded from him 2 million roubles more for non-dissemination of the above video, said the website of the Investigating Department for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

In October, the suspect demanded from the victim to re-register his car Toyota to the name of the lawyer's mother, but this operation did not take place. On October 29, in the area of the park in Makhachkala, after receipt of 100,000 roubles, a part of the extorted sum, the lawyer was detained.

Besides, according to the ICRF, a hand grenade was taken out of the lawyer's BMW-X5 car.

A criminal case was opened for a sexual assault, a robbery committed by a group of persons, a large-scale extortion and arms trafficking. These articles of the Criminal Code assume up to 15 years in prison.
