Warlick's proposals contain nothing new for settling Karabakh conflict settlement, say experts in Yerevan and Stepanakert

In Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, experts saw nothing new in the proposals put forward by James Warlick, the US co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Mr Warlick's statement has confirmed the earlier articulated principles of peaceful settlement, said Edward Nalbandyan, the Armenian Foreign Minister.

The States are reminding Russia about their presence in the Caucasus, said Stepan Grigoryan, the head of the Analytical Centre for Globalization and Regional Cooperation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Nagorno-Karabakh has stressed that the independence and security of the republic are exceptional values.

According to the Armenian political scientist Sergey Shakaryants, as regards the US policy in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Washington had always taken the side of Turkey and Azerbaijan.

The USA is trying to take the leading position in Southern Caucasus; and Warlick's statements have to do with this particular aim, said the Armenian political scientist Grant Melik-Shakhnazaryan. The statement itself, as he believes, has little to do with the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that experts in Azerbaijan have generally positively assessed the ideas of settling the Karabakh conflict, put forward in the Warlick's statement. The official Baku has agreed with it, said Elmar Mamedyarov, the head of the Azerbaijani MFA.
