Opponents of gender equality law in Armenia urge international community "not to interfere"
The public support for the law on gender equality in Armenia exhibited by the UN, EU and other international institutions is an act of pressure on the government, opponents of the law assert.
Let us remind you that a joint statement in support of the government's commitment to the idea of ensuring the gender equality in the country through Armenian legislation was made by the Yerevan office of the UN, the OSCE Office in Yerevan and the Council of Europe and the EU delegation and the US Embassy in Armenia.
As noted during the press conference held on November 28 by Arman Boshyan, the Chairman of the All-Armenian Parents' Committee, the version of the gender equality that international organizations want to impose on Armenia means not the equality of women and men, but a different status for individuals who have changed their sex, and for sexual minorities – the one they have in the US and Europe.
"I'd like to remind the US Embassy in Armenia that in our country they are presented exactly as an embassy; and it would be undesirable if they cross the threshold of their competence and interfere in Armenia's internal affairs," said Arman Boshyan. According to his story, by doing so, the above international organizations impinge on the values of the Armenian society and the Armenian Apostolic Church.
