Suspect of killing clergyman detained in Krasnodar Territory

Today, policemen have detained a suspect of murdering a priest in the Krasnodar Territory, said a source from law enforcement bodies of the territory.

A priest of the Russian Orthodox Church was found dead on October 19 in the trunk of his car in the Belorechinsky District of the Krasnodar Territory. The victim's house was also set on fire.

According to the website of the Investigating Department for the Krasnodar Territory of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), a local resident, who had a domestic conflict with the priest, is suspected of committing these crimes.

The local has been detained. The RIA "Novosti" reports, with reference to a local law enforcer, that according to preliminary data the offense was just a domestic violence.

The investigating authorities have opened a criminal case on crime attributes envisioned under Part 1, Article 105 (murder), Part 1, Article 166 (illegal occupation of automobile or other vehicle without theft), and Part 2, Article 167 (deliberate destruction of one's property by arson), of the Russian Criminal Code.

The slain Nikolai Medentsev, 61, was rector of the parish of Holy Protection Church, "Arguments and Facts" newspaper reports.
