Sochi starts considering investigator's inaction in case of beating builder

On August 19, the Adler District Court considered the complaint filed by Veronika Solovyova, the wife of beaten builder Pavel Solovyov, against the inaction of the investigator in respect to the victim.

On April 3, Pavel Solovyov, who worked at an Olympic facility construction, was brought to the Khosta Hospital No. 3. He underwent several surgeries. He claims that he was beaten by policemen. A month after the incident, Alexander Enin, the victim's advocate, said that the criminal case was not instituted.

Officials from the Adler OVD (Interior Division) reported that the materials on the complaint were collected and sent to the Investigating Committee.

It should be noted that a policeman accused by the builder of beating has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he regrets about the incident; however, he doubts that he inflicted harm to the victim. According to his version, Pavel Solovyov was stopped at a moment when, "being clearly in a state of alcoholic intoxication" he was urinating outside a cafe.

"When we brought him for medical examination, there, he was to resent that I was drawing up a protocol on his examination and began to pull out a folder with papers from my hands. I warned him that I would be forced to use physical force, and, since he failed to listen to me, I used force," the policeman states.

"I believe that Pavel himself has provoked the situation. We had not claims against his companions," the policeman has emphasized.
