On August 18, Sochi to hold rally against construction in park area

In Sochi, Lyudmila Shestak, a City Council deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), has filed to the Mayoralty an application on holding in PrimorskyPark a rally against capital construction of a well-room in the park area. The rally is scheduled for August 18.

"The decision to hold a rally came after the Mayor of Sochi had refused to respond to public opinion and to signatures under the complaint to stop the construction of the well-room on the lawn," Lyudmila Shestak told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Earlier, Anatoly Lutsyk, Chairman of the City Council, sent the resolution of the City Council of July 26 to Anatoly Pakhomov, Mayor of Sochi. The resolution informed the Mayor of Sochi that the City Council of Sochi recommends the Mayor "taking into account public opinion, to stop construction of the well-room and take all measures to restore the green area."

"Yesterday (on August 8), I walked through the park in front of the Winter Theatre, and I saw a construction site on the lawn. I could not believe my eyes. Flowerbed was covered with concrete, the lawn was trampled, and trucks drove through it. This is a kind of madness that must be stopped," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Nikolai Krasa, a resident of Sochi.

Let us remind you that on June 23, Primorsky Park hosted a picket against the construction of mineral water well-room that was started in the green area. However, the construction of the well-room in the park area has been still continued.
