Solo picketer Evgeny Zakharov released from police in Sochi

Evgeny Zakharov, a member of the initiative group for protection of greenery of the resort city, who was detained during his action near the Sochi administration, is back at large. Law enforcers have no claims to him, said Lieutenant Colonel Victor Biryuchenko, the head of the division of district policemen of the Tsentralny District of Sochi.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Evgeny Zakharov was detained by the police in the course of his solo picket held in front of the Sochi administration against the build-up of the PrimorskyPark with a mineral water pump-room. The detainee was taken to No. 60 Gorky Street.

According to his story, he is now going to visit the administration and present the Mayor Anatoly Pakhomov with a banner reading: "Mayor, stop illegal squatting of you pump-room- snack bar in the green area of the people's park!"

Let us remind you that on June 23 Sochi residents stated – during their picket – that the resort city is destroyed because of development of green areas. Then, the picket was also caused by the start of construction in a green zone of a mineral water pump-room. Earlier, Alexander Zachitaiulov, the Acting Director of the Department of Urban Development of Sochi, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the decision to build a pump-room in the park was made at the request of the Council of Invalids of the Tsentralny District, represented by its chairman Pavel Zhestovsky.
