In Kalmykia, ex-policeman sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment for murder

The court sentenced Djambulat Doskaziev, the former district police inspector of the "Lagansky" Inter-District Division of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Republic of Kalmykia, to 10 years of imprisonment for murder of a resident of the village of Prikumsky.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has reported that the incident, involving the police officer Djambulat Doskaziev, occurred on January 1 in the village of Prikumsky of the Chernozemelsky District of Kalmykia. According to the case materials, on that day, Djambulat Doskaziev guarded social order in its administrative area in the village of Prikumsky, when he was approached by Lema Kurbakhadjiev, a local resident in alcoholic intoxication, who began to express his discontent with the activity of the district police inspector. A conflict arose, as a result of which the policeman shot from the service weapon to the head of Lema Kurbakhadjiev, who died in place. According to investigators, Djambulat Doskaziev brought the body to the steppe, doused with gasoline, set on fire, and then buried in soil.

On January 12, the Investigatory Department of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) in the Republic of Kalmykia instituted a criminal case against Djambulat Doskaziev. On the same day, Baatr Gindeev, Minister of Internal Affairs of Kalmykia, reported that the district police inspector confessed to the crime, indicated the location of the body, and filed a report on the dismissal from the MIA's bodies. On May 16, the case was brought to the court.

The court found Djambulat Doskaziev guilty of committing the crime under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder) and sentenced him to 10 years of imprisonment in a high security penal colony. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Larissa Boldyreva, Senior Assistant to the Chief of the Investigatory Department of the ICRF in the Republic of Kalmykia.
