At Markelov's murder trial, another witness confirms Khasis' alibi

Today, the Moscow City Court has continued considering the criminal case on the murder of lawyer Stanislav Markelov. The defence of the accused Tikhonov and Khasis has presented to the court the witness Olga Mukhachova, who confirmed that at the moment of the murder Evgenia Khasis was with Alexei Baranovskiy.

Let us note here that Olga Mukhachova was mentioned on April 5 by witness Alexei Baranovskiy during his testimony, who stated that on the day of the murder of Stanislav Markelov, on January 19, 2009, the defendant Evgenia Khasis was with him. Thus, he stated her alibi.

In the course of today's session, the judge pointed out that the witness was not acquainted with the defendants personally, but only through correspondence.

Mukhachova has confirmed that on January 19, 2009, she talked on the phone with Baranovskiy, who mentioned in the conversation "a beautiful girl Zhenya." The period of time, when the call was made Mukhachova defined as "middle of the day, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m."

When asked by representatives of the suffered party why she had not told earlier that on the day of the crime Khasis was with Baranovskiy, Mukhachova answered that she was "unaware about the trial," while the defence advocates had invited her to speak at the trial.

Then, the judge announced the list of questions for interrogation of witnesses in the presence of the jury.
