Organizer of "Day of Anger" detained in Rostov-on-Don

On the "Day of Anger", opposition movements have held a non-sanctioned rally in Soviets Square at the building of the regional administration. The action passed without major incidents; Vladislav Ryazantsev, coordinator of the Rostov branch of the "Left-Wing Front" was detained for an hour.

According to Mr Ryazantsev, a notification about the rally was submitted on due time; however, oppositionists received a refusal.

It was decided not to postpone the action. At the appointed time, some 20-30 activists of the opposition movements "Left-Wing Front" and "Solidarity" gathered in the square. According to the organizers, bad weather and the militia cordon prevented from bringing more people there.

As noted by Ryazantsev, 50 employees of the local MIA were deployed along the perimeter of the square; several paddy wagons (special vehicles for transporting prisoners) and traditional UAZ vans could be seen not far away. "The protesters were securely fenced off from the square," said the coordinator of the movement.

Immediately after Vladislav Ryazantsev appeared in the square, several employees of the OM-3 (Militia Division) came up to him and asked to follow them to the station "for explanations", the website of the "Left-Wing Front" writes.

At the station Ryazantsev was issued "a Warning on Counteracting Extremist Activities" signed by the district prosecutor; a formal explanation was taken from him that the public order in the square was not violated. About an hour later the opposition leader was released. "I have no claims to the militiamen's actions," he noted.

This time oppositionists put forward claims to the authorities of Rostov-on-Don, who "wouldn't start dialogue." The protesters' demands also addressed social issues: reduction of working hours; restricting communal costs at the maximum level of 5 percent of family income; normalization of inter-ethnic relations; and tougher responsibility for employment of illegal migrants.

Earlier it was also reported that a demand of changing the federal power will be voiced out at the protest action. Also, the participants wanted to demand an inquiry into the activities of the former governor of the region Vladimir Chub and his retinue.
