Krasnodar Magistrate's court deemed the accusations against ecologist Gazaryan groundless

A judge of Kuban district Magistrate's court of Krasnodar discovered violations in the protocols of detention of Suren Gazaryan, one of the leaders of "Ecologic Watch" in Northern Caucasus, and returned the documents to the Department of Interior Affairs of Western district of Krasnodar.

"Caucasian Knot" has already reported that on December, 5, a procession in defense of the city's environment and "Utrish" nature reserve at the Black Sea coast was held in Krasnodar. Suren Gazaryan and Andrey Rudomakha, leaders of "Ecologic Watch" in Northern Caucasus, were detained during the action.

On Monday, December, 6, witnesses and representatives of local mass media arrived at Kuban district Magistrate's court on the hearing of Suren Gazaryan's case. Sergey Uvarov acted for the ecologist.

On regarding the materials of the case Chief justice arrived at a conclusion that proofs of unlawfulness of the defendant's actions, detailed circumstances of detention and explanations of concrete forms of his insubordination were lacking in the protocols of Gazaryan's detention. For this reason the court deemed the accusations against Gazaryan groundless and the session was ceased.

Activists of "Ecologic Watch" in Northern Caucasus greeted the judge's decision and expressed their hope that the results of hearing of Andrey Rudomakha's case on December, 7, would be the same. Besides, they think that such a judgment gives them a hope of peaceful carrying on a large-scale action in defense of nature planned in Krasnodar on December, 12, 11:00 Moscow time, near "Aurora" cinema.

After hearing of Andrey Rudomakha's case the ecologists intend to "strive for punishment of the officials guilty of groundless detention of the activists during the demonstration of December, 5", a report of "Ecologic Watch" runs.
