GPO of Armenia: body of the captive delivered by Azerbaijan has traces of torture

The body of Manvel Saribekyan, a citizen of Armenia, who died in Azeri captivity, which was handed over on November 4 by Azerbaijan to the Armenian party, has signs of torture revealed by the examination, said the press service of General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Armenia.

According to the Defence Ministry of Azerbaijan, the captured Manvel Saribekyan committed suicide by hanging on October 5. Armenia does not believe in this version.

"The preliminary examination of the body showed that it was kept in bad conditions, because the corpse has decayed. As a result of forensic examination traces of torture were revealed on the body," the "News-Armenia" quoted its source in the Armenian GPO.

A criminal case was opened by the order of the Prosecutor General of Armenia. The preliminary investigation was entrusted to the Central Investigatory Department of the Police of Armenia, the "Armenia Today" reports.

So far, the Azerbaijani party has made no comments on the statement of the Armenian party.
