Court session on the case of judge Novikov in Sochi delayed because of the defendant's illness

Next in turn hearings of the case of ex-judge Dmitry Novikov accused of fraud with 17 land estates in Khosta district court of the resort city of Sochi, Krasnodar region, were held on November, 8 and 9.

On November, 8, the session on Novikov's case lasted from 10 am till 18 pm. Several witnesses were interrogated.

At the session of November, 9, Dmitry Novikov declared that he was feeling very bad and asked for urgent medical aid. The judges rejected the request. The defendant's mother and attorney Tamara Novikova demanded to call physicians to court immediately for Novikov's "left arm was becoming paralyzed which was the reason to suspect a stroke of an infarction, besides, he had pneumonia and high temperature at the moment".

The hearing was held up. Dmitry Novikov was taken to the convoy room where he waited for the ambulance service.

According to Sergey Basmanov, human rights activist, the brigade of physicians who arrived established that he had bronchial pneumonia and needed treatment and a consultation of a pulmonologist. Novikov could not be present at the second part of the session after the break on November, 9. The next session was appointed for 10:00 Moscow time, November, 12.
