Husband of Georgian woman detained in Malaysia takes the blame

The husband of one of the two female citizens of Georgia, detained in Malaysia on October 27 and accused of importing pretty plenty of drugs, has surrendered to Georgian police and gave evidence revealing his guilt, reports the press service of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

The fact that two young women from Georgia were arrested in Malaysia on suspicion of drug transportation and dealing became known on October 27; and on November 4 the investigation charged one of them - Babutsa Gordadze - under the article of "drug trafficking". On November 8, the judicial hearing on the case of second woman - Daredzhan Kokhtashvili - will take place.

On confession of Eldar Davitiani, Babutsa Gordadze's husband, the transport of 11 kilograms of methamphetamine, hidden in frames of photographs, was organized by him personally on the order of third persons. After a 13-hour-long interrogation, Davitiani was sent to remand prison. No other details were disclosed, the "RBC" (RosBusinessConsulting) reports.

According to another version, after questioning one of the possible organizers of drug trafficking was released. Davitiani did not want to talk to reporters and left the police building without any comments.

"Should the Malaysian court take into account Davitiani's evidence, then, possibly, the Georgian detainees may escape death penalty," Manana Kobakhidze, leader of the Georgian NGO "Article 42 of the Constitution", told journalists.

She explained that in this case Davitiani will have to respond. "However, he will not be given out to Malaysia. We are members of the European Council; moreover, it won't happen, if he will be under threat of death penalty," Ms Kobakhidze said. According to her story, Georgian authorities should timely deliver Davitiani's evidences to the Malaysian party, the "Georgia online" reports.
