Oppositional activists detained in Georgia liberated

On September, 12, Levan Chitadze, leader of youth movement "ARA" (which means "no") and Levan Khochlashvili, member of the movement, detained near the Georgian President's residence on September, 10, for disobedience to the police have been released from the investigative isolation ward of Mzkheta (near Tbilisi).

The confrontation between the participants of the action and the police happened when the people who were taking part in the meeting started pasting their stickers on the walls of the residence and writing the word "Freedom" by an indelible paint on the asphalt. The participants did not obey when the police demanded them to stop their activity after which the confrontation began and three activists were detained as a result.

Lika Tsiklauri, the detained men's attorney, said that the process in the Municipal Court of Tbilisi was held late in the evening on Friday, September, 10, and both Chitadze and Khochlashvili were sentenced to a two-days confinement for "malicious disobedience to law enforcement organs' demands".

IA "Novosti-Georgia" reported that during the protest action Georgy Apkhaidze, another participant of the meeting about whom no report was drawn up, was released after a drug test.
