Investigation names ex-assistant of public prosecutor from Dagestan as customer of the murder of ICPO inspector

The Investigatory Committee at the Prosecutor's Office (ICPO) of the Russian Federation has reported solution of the murder of Nazim Kaziakhmedov, an inspector of the Chief Investigatory Department of the ICPO, which was accomplished in 2007 in Moscow. Said Abdulakimov, former assistant of the public prosecutor of the Magaramkent District of Dagestan, is named to be the customer of the crime.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported earlier that Kaziakhmedov was shot dead in Moscow in September 2007 in Stromynka Street opposite the building of the Roman Viktyuk's theatre. A source from the General Prosecutor's Office of Russia reported later that the inspector of the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan could have been committed by his former colleagues because of personal enmity.

In the course of operative-search actions, power agents detained Rasul Akhmaev, a native of Dagestan, who confessed that he was an intermediary between the customer and executors of Kaziakhmedov's murder, for which he was promised 50,000 US dollars.

Akhmaev pointed to Said Abdulakimov, former assistant of the public prosecutor of the Magaramkent District of Dagestan, as the customer of the crime. Abdulakimov had known Kaziakhmedov and asked him not to search Ambartsum Safaryan, a figurant of the "Finvest" case, who was announced into search. But the inspector was unshakable; by his efforts Safaryan was found and arrested. Later, he was recognized guilty of plundering 83 million roubles from the Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) "Vneshprom", an affiliate of the "Finvest", and sentenced to 6.5 years of a minimum security colony.

In the end of July this year, the Moscow City Court sentenced Rasul Akhmaev to 12 years of high security colony as the murder accomplice. Akhmaev pled guilty and asked to consider his case in the special order.

Materials concerning other figurants of the case - Abdulakimov, Aslanov and Mamedov - have been sent to the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation for approval of the indictment; later they will be sent to the court.
