Militiamen who returned from Chechnya are suspected of kidnapping

On August 28 in Moscow four militiamen were detained on suspicion of kidnapping. These employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) have recently returned from Chechnya, and took their psychological rehabilitation. This was reported by Oleg Mitvol, now one of Moscow prefects.

The detainees are Maxim Alisov, deputy commander of a patrol-sentry platoon, and militiamen Artyom Panasenko, Mikhail Merkulov and Evgenie Di-Modunho.

According to Mr Mitvol, the detainees "returned from Chechnya on August 20; and they were given some time to take their rehabilitation with psychologists," the RIA "Novosti" reports.

According to the investigation, on August 28 at 11:20 a.m., the four servicemen of the special patrol-sentry battalion, while outside the time of their service, kidnapped a businessman, who was granting building machinery into lease right in the eyes of his wife. They pushed him into a car and took away into some unknown place.

A criminal case was initiated on the fact of the crime under the article of kidnapping, which assumes up to 20 years of imprisonment, the "Interfax" reports.

In the context of militiamen's detention on suspicion of kidnapping, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, head of the Moscow GUVD (Chief Interior Department), has dismissed Khamid Abdrakhimov, head of the militia of public safety of the UVD of the Northern Administrative District of Moscow.
