Russian President reproaches Khloponin for absence of investments into Dagestan

President of Russia Dmitri Medvedev has criticized Vice-Premier Alexander Khloponin, his Plenipotentiary in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), for absence of investments into Dagestan.

"The situation pitiable: the Republic of Dagestan has no new investments," Plenipotentiary Khloponin ascertained at the meeting with Medvedev on August 11.

"Almost nothing has been done lately, without investments we'll not be able to develop the republic's economy," Medvedev responded, as the RBC reports.

He instructed Khloponin to elaborate the issue of a targeted programme for Dagestan, like it was done for Chechnya and Ingushetia. This instruction was an answer to the request of the head of Dagestan Magomedsalam Magomedov, who asked for economic preferences and a free economic zone for his republic, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
