Armenia: 257 victims of Stalin purges get loans to buy or repair their flats

Under the governmental credit programme aimed at improvement of living conditions of the citizens who have the status of repressed persons, as of July 1, 2010, loans during the previous decade had been granted to 257 persons to the total sum of 972,659,730 drams.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the Ministry of Finance of Armenia that in the first half of this year 19 citizens, who have the status of a repressed person or a first-category successor of a repressed person, were provided loans from the state budget to the total sum of 77,812,000 drams (1 US dollar = 365 Armenian drams) for improvement of their housing conditions.

Under the above programme budgetary loans are provided under 1 percent interest rate for 25 years with a 3-year grace period for repayment. The programme for the victims of repressions was launched in 2001.
