A militiaman killed in Grozny

In the Staropromyslovskiy District of Grozny, last night unidentified persons shot dead an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Chechnya; now, the inquiry is underway.

"A serviceman of the PPS (Patrol and Post Service of the Militia), who was on his way home after his on duty shift, was killed by a group of unidentified persons. Several firearm shots were made at him, and the criminals managed to disappear. The militiaman died in the place of the incident from received wounds," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by the republic's law enforcement bodies.

Let us note here that attacks on law enforcers in the Chechen capital were not registered for a long time, although in the mountain districts such incidents are periodically fixed.

Thus, on July 5, in the mountain-woody area near Neftianka settlement, Vedeno District, employees of the PPS-2 regiment of the Chechen MIA and servicemen of the "Yug" (South) special-purpose battalion of the Interior Troops of the Russian MIA, who were conducting a joint special operation, were shelled by a group of suspected militants. As a result of this attack, a contract soldier, 31, from the battalion was lost, and an ensign, 33, and a militia sergeant, 20, were wounded, while the attackers could disappear.

On June 21, in the Vedeno District, a serviceman of the Chechen MIA was wounded in a skirmish with suspected militants. On that very day, in the Grozny District of the republic, near Yarysh-Mardy village, a column of militia cars was shelled, and a militiaman, sent to Chechnya from Novosibirsk, was wounded.
