Georgia accuses Abkhazia's MIA of murdering a Gali resident

Vadim Gvindzhiya, head of the Gali ROVD (District Interior Division), told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the charges of the Georgian party concerning the attack on the Andzhaparidze family in the village of Rep, Gali District of Abkhazia, are not legitimate.

"The incident with Andzhaparidze namesakes really took place; but it was not like described by Georgian mass media," Mr Gvindzhiya has emphasized.

Today, the Georgian party has stated that on June 23 in Rep village agents of the antiterrorist centre of Abkhazia attacked the Andzhaparidze family. According to the disseminated data, after three hours of torture Gogita Andzhaparidze was killed, and his brothers were severely beaten.

Vepkhvia Andzhaparidze is in hospital of Abudzar connected to the artificial breath device, Malkhaz Andzhaparidze was transported to the hospital of Gali; other members of the family are kept in militia of Tbilisi, as the "GHN" writes. According to the edition, they demanded from Andzhaparidze brothers to confess of murdering Dmitri Katsiya, head of the administration of Rep village.

However, the head of the Gali ROVD rejects the accusations of the Georgian party: "Malkhaz Andzhaparidze was searched as a suspect of committing a number of crimes."

"The namesakes were detained on their way from Sida village in direction to Nabakevi village. When they saw law enforcers, they threw away their firearms and tried to run away; but they were detained. Militiamen searched the bushes and found two AKM (Kalashnikov) sub-machine guns, mufflers and masks," said Vadim Gvindzhiya.

According to his story, one of the detainees - Besic Andzhaparidze - had a heart attack and was brought to Sukhumi hospital, where he died. According to the post-mortem examination, he died from cardiac insufficiency.

Mr Gvindzhiya has added that two other detainees were placed into the IVS (temporary custody facility) of the Gali ROVD; the investigation is underway.
