Day of Republic in Ingushetia was saddened by explosions

Today, Ingushetia celebrated its Day of Republic, but the holiday was accompanied by explosions, as a result of which three persons were lost and about a dozen - wounded.

Day of Republic

June 4 was announced to be a day-off - the national Day of Republic. The head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov made a solemn speech in the Big Hall of the President's Administration of the city of Magas; then he met famous Ingush politicians, sportsmen and doctors; some of them received state awards.

Let us remind you that the Law "On Formation of the Ingush Republic within the Russian Federation" was passed on June 4, 1992.

It is planned that the second day of celebratory actions - June 5 - will be marked by opening of the specialized boxing gym in Nazran, the final tour of the festival of Ingush games and laying the first stone in the place of future Palace of Culture in Magas. The website "06region.ru" reports that concerts, fairs, exhibitions of handicraftsmen and artists were planned for the residents of the republic.

One of today's events was the opening by Mr Evkurov of a cottage settlement in the eastern part of Malgobek for resettlers from the landslide zone of the city, where 507 families will be able to move from their shabby houses. This was reported by the official website of the Republic of Ingushetia.

Explosions

It was the city of Malgobek and its suburban village of Sagopshi, which became today the venues of tragic events.

At about 12:00 a.m. in Malgobek, two explosions were triggered at the monument to participants of the Great Patriotic War. At first, near the monument, where T-34 tank is established, local residents saw some suspicious things and called the militia. At the moment, when a militia unit and sappers arrived to the place, two explosions were triggered, as a result of which, fortunately, nobody suffered. Some time later, an unidentified man ran up to the militiamen, threw a grenade at them and opened fire from his pistol, but was killed by response fire. The grenade failed to blow up and no militiamen suffered.

At 2:30 p.m. a shop was shelled in Sagopshi village, and its saleswoman Mariam Tsechoeva was shot dead. As it became clear later, the attackers, when leaving, planted an explosive device. Its power was at least 5 kilos in trotyl equivalent. When militiamen and local authorities arrived at the place of the incident, an explosion was triggered, as a result of which the shop collapsed.

As a result, according to the latest data, 15 persons suffered, two of them later died. This was reported today by the RIA "Novosti", which referred to today's evening appearance on local TV of Alexei Vorobyov, head of the government of Ingushetia, informs RIA of "News".

The head of the village administration, his deputy and two militiamen were among the victims.

Power agents suspect professionals of preparing explosions in Ingushetia

The attacks of militants on the Day of Republic were quite predictable, the GZT.RU writes, noting that extremists often try to date their actions to memorable days or holidays. Therefore, as a rule, on such days, law enforcement bodies of North-Caucasian republics are switched over to strengthened service regime. Unfortunately, these tougher security measures not always give fruit.

The sources of the edition in power agencies of Northern Caucasus emphasize that in this case they see the skills of professional demolition specialists and the practice of blowing up trap mines, tested in due time in Chechnya. Recently, more and more incidents of this type happen in Ingushetia.

Militants blow up a land mine or shell militiamen. Frequently it is just a distracting manoeuvre, which has no aim to cause any essential damage to the passing car or militia unit. The main aim is to trigger a skilfully hidden land mine, when an inquiry team headed by high-ranking officers arrives to the place of the incident. Recently, this tactics is more and more applied by saboteurs both in Ingushetia and in the neighbouring regions, the edition marks.
