In Georgia, electoral commission staff signs Code of Ethics

Today in Georgia, the members of electoral administrations and employees of constituency and local electoral commissions all over the country simultaneously signed the Code of Ethics, having undertaken to strictly observe the electoral legislation at execution of their professional duties. In total, the document now has 48,064 signatories.

The workers of electoral administrations undertake to ensure equal and fair conditions for all the candidates, parties, voters and other actors of elections, and abstain from any actions, which can be treated as support of political subjects, the "News-Georgia" reports.

Should a signatory break any of the Code provisions, he or she will not face sanctions, as the document is based exclusively on moral principles, the "Georgia Online" Agency reports.

The elections to local government bodies will take place in Georgia on May 30 in 73 constituencies and at 3624 polling stations.
