Two Adygea residents convicted for use of slave labour

The Krasnogvardeisk District Court of Adygea has found the defendants accused in the criminal case about illegal deprivation of freedom of Vladimir Vinsha, a resident of Ladozhskaya village, Ust-Labinsk District of the Krasnodar Territory, guilty.

According to the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of Adygea, the Court recognized defendant Abdula Gasanov guilty of committing a crime under point "a", part 2, Article 127 of the Criminal Code (CC) of the Russian Federation ("Illegal deprivation of freedom"), and defendant Gabib Gasanov - guilty under the same Article and under part 1, Article 127.2 of the CC ("Use of slave labour") and punished them with imprisonment for 3 and 3.6 years, accordingly, in the minimum security colony.

"Gabib Gasanov had deprived Vladimir Vinsha of his personal freedom and used his labour without payment at agricultural works in the territory of his household and works in his house in the period from December 2008 to January 2009," says the statement of the press service of the Republic's Prosecutor's Office, placed in the official website of the Office.

The statement notes that Vinsha tried to run away but Gabib Gasanov transported him against his will to the household of his father, where the victim was locked in one of the household premises. "For six months Vladimir Vinsha was engaged in agricultural works in Gabib Gasanov's household under threats of violence. The victim was deprived of the freedom of travel; he was permanently watched and suffered from psychological pressure. For the night he was locked in the premise allocated for him to sleep," the press service notes. "On July 8, 2009, the prisoner managed to run away from the Gasanov's household."

This litigation caused a loud resonance among the Kurdish population: in many Kurdish families it is a custom to use hired labour; and such workers are always treated carefully, the "Yuga.Ru" writes. Therefore, the defendants disagreed with the court verdict and want to appeal against it.
