Azerbaijan: number of refugees from Chechnya goes down

The number of Chechen refugees in Azerbaijan has reduced from 12 to 2 thousand persons, as reported by Ali Gasanov, Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Refugees and Forced Migrants.

"We see a reduction of the number of Chechen refugees in our country. Some of them left on their will to European countries, and some - to Turkey," he said.

Now, the country keeps about 4 thousand registered refugees; those who arrived to Azerbaijan from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Palestine and Iran among them, the "Aysor.am" agency reports.

At the same time, as the APA agency reports, Mr Gasanov said that "in recent years, we see more persons who try by all means to get to Azerbaijan as refugees."
