Two independent Sochi websites regularly hacked

At night on March 27, access was stopped to two Sochi websites, where critical publications were placed about the problems of Olympic construction in the Krasnodar Territory. Experts emphasize that such attacks are undertaken on a regular basis.

Maxim Selyodkin, representing the LLC (Limited Liability Company) "Information Technologies" told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that Projects "Sochi.com" and "Blogsochi.ru" suffered from DDoS-attack. "These attacks are constant; at the moment, they are strong enough," he has emphasized.

Mr Selyodkin is not inclined to link the attacks exclusively with the critical publications on the companies engaged in construction in the territory of the resort.

Alexander Valov, editor-in-chief of the "Blogsochi.ru", thinks differently. He said that at night on March 27 "a DDoS-attack on the site was launched; thousands of computers began making requests every second." "Possibly, the attack was caused by critical materials placed on the website," he said.

Recently, the website "Blogsochi.ru" placed items describing the situation at Olympic construction sites. The information differed from what was disseminated by building companies. In particular, non-payment of salaries to workers was reported; and critical materials on March 14 elections to the Sochi City Assembly. The most topical publications of Sochi bloggers are also placed in the home page of the portal "Sochi.com".

"It all indicates that our Internet project has stepped on someone's foot, and the attack was ordered by serious federal-level structures," Mr Valov believes.

At present, both sites are open for users.
