Armenian detained near Moscow on suspicion of using slave labour

Criminal inspectors of the MIA have released 30 Vietnamese from an illegal factory situated in Egorievsk near Moscow; they came to Russia for earnings and found themselves in slavery of their factory boss - a native of Armenia.

As runs the statement of the press service of the Department of Criminal Search of Russian MIA, under the criminal case opened under the article of "using slave labour accomplished under aggravating circumstances" two Vietnam natives and director general of the company - tenant of the shop, a native of Armenia - have been detained.

According to the Department, the criminal group, which was engaged in trafficking in humans and using slave labour, recruited Vietnamese for working in Russia, promising stable wages and official registration, the "Interfax" reports.

The "employers" spent about 40,000 roubles to bring one worker to Russia. The "recruits" were brought to Egorievsk, Moscow Region, deprived of their documents, and forced to work by violently keeping in a former garment factory.

Once, unable to bear the intolerable working conditions, two girls tried to run away through a window by means of a rope ladder, which they made from the T-shirts they were sewing. The structure broke and the girls fell on the ground from the height of the fourth level. One of them broke her backbone, the other - her leg, the "Gazeta.Ru" reports.

Officials from the Vietnamese Embassy to Russia had been informed about the situation and took part in liberation of their fellow citizens.
