Rostov Region: check is on of residents' mass address to hospital

The Prosecutor's Office is conducting a check in the Semikarakor District, Rostov Region, on the fact of address of more than 400 persons, including children, to hospital with the diarrhoea syndrome. All of them addressed for medical aid to the Central District Hospital of Semikarakor in the period of February 17-21.

Let us remind you that an outbreak of mass poisoning was registered in Makhachkala in February, where as of February 19, 122 patients are in hospital with sharp intestinal infection, about 70 percent of them are babies under 3, basically artificially fed.

In Semikarakor residents all the symptoms are manifested in a light form, only one child was hospitalized, as reported by Liudmila Bondar, press secretary of the Regional Ministry of Public Health. At present, epidemiologists and infectiologists suspect a viral nature of the disease, most likely, it was some SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome); however, a mass poisoning is not excluded, as the portal "161.ru" writes.

Residents of Semikarakor are sure that the reasons of the illness are hidden in water. "The city water is infected with Escherichia coli," said Evangelina, who urged not to drink un-boiled water.

According to physicians, there is no threat to life and health of those who addressed for medical. However, the local prosecutor's office has already made a presentation addressed to the chief physician of the hospital prescribing to eliminate violations of the federal legislation connected with untimely informing law enforcers about the growth of the number of infected persons.
