In North Ossetia, trade sector well endured the 2009 crisis

The situation in the consumer market of North Ossetia remains stable and is characterized by a high level of saturation with goods, Zaur Kuchiev, Minister of Economy, has noted.

According to his story, last year, despite tangible effects of the crisis, the republic's consumer market, oriented towards everyday needs of the population and substitution of imports, as a whole, developed successfully and preserved the positive growth rate.

The volume of paid services rendered to the population made 15,345.8 million roubles, seeing a 1.8-percent growth against 2008. According to official statistics, in North Ossetia, the consumer price index in December 2009 made 108.4 percent against December 2008.

The Minister has noted that in 2010 a number of measures will be implemented allowing to renovate stationary trading objects and regulate the street trade.

  • Rights defenders give number of kidnapped people in Chechnya
