Observers from Georgia leave Ukraine

The Georgian observers, whose mass arrival in Ukraine was one of major topics on the eve of the first round of presidential election held there on January 17, have returned to Georgia.

"All the citizens of Georgia who were in Donetsk during the election campaign have returned home by two flights," the UNIAN Agency quotes the press attache of the Interior Department for the Donetsk Region.

Meanwhile, the Chief Board of the Party "Democratic Movement - United Georgia" disseminated a statement that "the authorities of Georgia who had sent over 2000 observers to the presidential election in Ukraine committed a rough intervention in the home affairs of another country, having damage the Georgia's image."

The Party leaders believe that "the sending by Georgian authorities of two thousand 'observers' to the presidential election in Ukraine and their actions there caused tension in the electoral process."

In the opinion of Burdzhanadze's party, such actions of the authorities, who made nothing for making a democratic state out of Georgia show what they think of "democratic elections." "We are sure that the freedom-loving Ukrainian people in the brotherly Ukraine can ensure the victory of democracy without Saakashvili's intervention," the statement runs.

The Party "Way of Georgia", in its turn, asks for a complete list of the Georgian observers sent to Ukraine for monitoring the presidential election and the budget of the expedition. Salome Zurabishvili has stated this demand at a press conference, addressing the Central Electoral Commission of Georgia and the Ukraine's embassy.
