During the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus during the week from March 11 to March 17, 2013, at least 22 persons fell victim. Of them, 21 people were killed and one was wounded. These are the results of calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

As reported by the spokesman of the Russia's National Antiterrorism Committee (NAC), in the course of a special operation conducted by the power agents on the border between Chechnya and Ingushetia, seven militants were killed.

Today, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has ruled on the complaint submitted by relatives of Vakhit Avkhadov, a resident of Urus-Martan, the Chechen Republic, who disappeared in 2001, after being detained by power agents. According to the court, Russian authorities had failed to carry out an effective investigation into the incident.

The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation has upheld the verdict passed by the Moscow City Court, which had found the former policeman Dmitry Pavlyuchenkov guilty of the murder of the journalist of the "Novaya Gazeta" Anna Politkovskaya.

The head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov has topped the citation rating of bloggers-governors this February; the rating is based on the study conducted by the "Medialogy" Company. The top ten positions also include the heads of two more regions of Southern Russia – Alexander Tkachov, the governor of the Krasnodar Territory; and Alexander Zhilkin, the governor of the Astrakhan Region.

The two Chechen hafiz schools (of experts who know the Koran by heart) made the first release of graduates. The hafiz schools in Tsentaroy and Gudermes were finished by 61 young residents of Chechnya.

The Moscow City Court (MCC) has extended till July 7 the arrest of the ex-militiaman Sergey Khadjikurbanov, a figurant of the murder case of the journalist of the "Novaya Gazeta" Anna Politkovskaya, said the press service of the MCC.
