During the week of September 29-October 5, 2014, at least 24 persons fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. Of them, 11 persons were killed, and 13 others were wounded. These are the results of calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The explosion, which occurred in Isaev Avenue in Grozny, has become the first suicide bombing in Chechnya committed this year after the explosion near the building of the Sunzha ROVD (District Interior Division) of Chechnya committed in September 2013.

As a result of the suicide bombing committed in Grozny, ten injured persons are brought to City Hospital No. 9, and doctors assess their condition as stable. In total, the suicide bombing killed five persons and injured 12 others, said the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

The Ministry of Transport of the Chechen Republic has concluded a contract for purchasing five special low-floor buses for transportation of wheelchair users. Officials expect that the new vehicles are to make the urban environment more accessible to persons with disabilities. However, residents of the Chechen capital believe that until present, the republic has hardly created any facilities for persons with disabilities, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondents report.

Rustam Kerimov, a resident of Grozny, accused of involvement in the hostilities in the territory of Syria, has been sentenced to three years of imprisonment in a common-security penal colony with a restraint of liberty for one year. The decision was pronounced by the Zavodskoy District Court of Grozny, the Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya reports.

Yulia Orlova and Natalia Nesterenko, staff members of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", have launched an independent project "Let's help the Russian-speaking elders in the Caucasus". The project is aimed at providing help to elderly people living alone in Chechnya, most of whom are representatives of minor ethnic group of the republic. The donations collected online will be spent for food, medicines, tickets to visit family members, improvement of welfare, and assistance of psychologists and lawyers.

A native of Georgia Tarkhan Batirashvili, the commander of the northern sector of the "Islamic State", also known as Umar al-Shishani, has announced a reward of 5 million US dollars for the assassination of the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, the website "Pressa Today" reports.
