The Supreme Court (SC) of Dagestan has for the second time considered the case of Artyom Magomedov, the head of the Rutul ROVD (District Interior Division), accused of beating a detainee and again replaced his conditional sentence with a real imprisonment.

The court of appeal did not take into account the decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), which recognized the authorities responsible for the deaths of eight young Dagestani natives in Chechnya. This was reported by victims’ relatives who promised to appeal against the verdict.

The attack on the lawyer, Alexander Nemov, and the journalist, Elena Milashina, is being investigated under the articles on causing harm to health of medium and light gravity, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has informed on the second day after the attack.
