Colonel-Lieutenant Gadji Mamedov from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), who had been sentenced to life imprisonment, was found dead in a medical unit of the Penitentiary Service. According to preliminary data, he committed suicide.

The registration centres that control the firearm circulation give conflicting data about the submachine guns, which, according to investigators, were owned by members of the "Islamic State" (IS, banned in Russia) unit created in the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR).
