A 27-year-old resident of Dagestan was shot dead on the territory of the Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) "Makhachkalavodokanal", the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reports. The killed man was identified as Abdulbasir Omarov, a nephew of Magomedrasul Omarov, the former director of the "Dagavtodor" and the Dagestani branch of the Department for the Road Management "Kaspiy". Men suspected of the murder and complicity are sons of a member of the People's Assembly of Dagestan and the former head of the Shamil District.

The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has awarded over 180,000 euros of compensation to relatives of the residents of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) and Ingushetia, who were killed by law enforcers in 2007 and 2009. The victims' interests were represented by lawyers of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial".

The court recognized Magomed Elmurzaev, who participated in a shootout with border guards in 2017, as a member of the Khasavyurt grouping of militants and sentenced him to 22 years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony. Magomed Elmurzaev was helping the militants under threat of reprisal, the defence claimed.

Today, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has obliged the Russian authorities to pay am amount totalling to 28,000 euros to employees of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", two of whom – Ekaterina Sokiryanskaya and Shamsuddin Tangiev – were beaten, while Zina Mukusheva, Zoya Muradova, Fatima Yandieva, and Albert Khantigov were detained for holding a picket in Nazran in memory of Anna Politkovskaya.

On June 22, in Azerbaijan, the Court of Appeal left rapper Elshan Teimurov under custody. The rapper was subjected to 60 days of administrative arrest. The young man denied the accusations of drug trafficking and disobedience to the police and said he was being prosecuted for performing a critical song, the rapper's father reports.

Mindiya Goradze was detained in Belarus after, on June 20, a court in Turkey ruled to release him from arrest and ordered him to leave the country within 24 hours. On June 22, Goradze's relatives staged a protest rally in Batumi at which they demanded that the authorities extradite him to Georgia.
