The authorities of Azerbaijan exceeded their powers when they restricted the rights and freedoms of citizens during the coronavirus pandemic, the Centre for Election Monitoring and Democracy Education (CEMDE) concluded. In the country, at least 95,000 people were brought to administrative responsibility for violation of the quarantine.

The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) withdrew from consideration complaints filed by writer and a publicist Rasim Garadja, and reporter Tural Asadli due to the fact that the Azerbaijani authorities had already restored their rights and promised to pay each of the complainants 5000 euros in compensation.

The court has acquitted the head of the construction company, accused of attacking Narine Avetisyan, the editor-in-chief of the Armenian "Lori" TV Channel; his subordinate was found guilty but released from punishment. The court's verdict should be cancelled; an impartial investigation of the case is necessary, journalists and human rights defenders assert.

After a protest action held by residents of the dwelling settlement Krasnoarmeiskoye located in a suburb of Makhachkala, 23 residents were brought to justice; many of them were fined, said one of the detainees. Another Krasnoarmeiskoye resident was detained the next day after the action; he prevented the special equipment from destroying the fence around his land plot.

On Thursday, participants of the Caucasus-2020 military exercise practiced destruction of manoeuvre enemy' military vehicles and strongholds at a training ground in the Volgograd Region. Analysts suggest that Azerbaijan and India would be able to take part in the Caucasus-2020 military exercise in case if Armenia, China, and Pakistan had not responded to the Russia's invitation.

An advocate of one of the prisoners, who cut their own hands, has demanded from the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Georgia to investigate the incident, claiming that it was provoked by the psychological pressure on the prisoners.
