"Freedom House" finds Internet not free in Russia and Azerbaijan

Azerbaijani journalist complains about custody conditions at detention centre
The Baku Court of Appeal (BCA) has dismissed the complaint, lodged by Shamistan Khaziev, a journalist and activist of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), about his arrest. At the trial, Khaziev complained about poor custody conditions at the detention centre.

Investigators define weapon used to kill Eldjarkiev
Ibragim Eldjarkiev, the head of the Ingush "E" Centre (CCE – Centre for Combating Extremism), was shot dead from a "Kedr" (Cedar) pistol- submachine gun, used by special services, the "Mash" Telegram channel has reported.

Yessentuki court rejects arguments of Uzhakhov's defence on investigators' inaction

NGOs urge PO to treat rally participants in Tbilisi as victims
Today, seventeen Georgian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have called on the Prosecutor's Office (PO) to grant the victim status to those wounded during the dispersal of the protest action at night on June 21. In a joint statement circulated today, the above NGOs suggested that the state would not admit the facts of inflicting grievous harm to health of citizens and journalists.

New charges against Gvaramiya indicate oppression of oppositional press in Georgia

National Unity Day splits residents of Southern Russia
Amid the events organized by the authorities on the National Unity Day, many residents of the southern regions of Russia said they did not understand the meaning of the holiday. Replacement of Khamkhoev with Eldjarkiev fails to stop complaints against Ingush CCE
