"Kommersant": they tried to win Magomed Evloev back from Ingushetian militia

Shortly before his death, relatives and friends of Magomed Evloev, owner of a website "Ingushetia.Ru", tried to fight the oppositionist back from militiamen.

Magomed Evloev died in the Republic's Hospital in Nazran, where he was brought on August 31 with a gunshot wound in his head. The day before, Mr Evloev was detained at the Nazran airport by the retinue of the Minister of Internal Affairs and taken to unknown place.

The details of Evloev's detention are narrated by the "Kommersant" edition with reference to Magomed Khazbiev, chairman of the organizing committee of the nationwide protest rally. Mr Khazbiev said that when militia detained Evloev near the aircraft ramp, his friends and relatives rushed to his rescue but were stopped by warning submachine gun bursts.

Evloev's supporters made another attempt to win him back on the way from the airport. They managed to stop two militia cortege cars, but Evloev was not in them. According to Khazbiev, his supporters beat militiamen and took away their IDs. Later, it became known that by that time Evloev had already been fatally wounded in another car.

On September 4, a group of civil activists plans to hold pickets in the context of the tragic death of the website owner Magomed Evloev.
