North Ossetia to hold Memory Days on Beslan terror act victims

The North Ossetia gets ready to hold Memory Days on the victims of the act of terror committed on September 1-3, 2004, in Beslan.

The mournful events related to the fourth anniversary of the tragedy will be attended by the leaders of the Republic, heads of ministries and agencies, representatives of the administration of local self-government of the Pravoberezhny District, relatives of the victims and former hostages.

On September 1-3, starting from 8:30 a.m., the court of School No. 1, where hostages had been taken, will be flooded with mourning music, and at 9, the mourning ceremony will begin there. Flowers will be laid in memory of victims in the gym of the school and in the Memorial Cemetery. On September 2, a concert-requiem will be performed by the symphonic orchestra conducted by A. Akoev in the District Palace of Culture in Beslan. On September 3, at 1:40 p.m. in the Memorial Cemetery at the background of metronome names and surnames of all the casualties will be read aloud.

  • Rights defenders give number of kidnapped people in Chechnya

    At least 80 residents of Chechnya have been kidnapped after a car with a DUSTUM license plate was set on fire; volunteers have identified the names of a number of them.
