Consideration of complaint by Arakcheyev convicted for murdering Chechen residents postponed

The military panel of the Russian Supreme Court has postponed the hearing of the complaint of Sergei Arakcheyev and Yevgheni Khudiakov, officers of the Russian MoI internal troops, until August 28. They were given 15 and 17 years, respectively, for murdering three Chechen residents.

The Military Panel session was postponed because the defense lawyers of the convicts submitted to the court additions to the cassation complaint which the court had no time to get acquainted with, reports RIA "Novosti".

Meanwhile, Alexander Belov, leader of the Movement against Illegal Migration, has been detained in Moscow for organizing a picket in support of Arakcheyev and Khudiakov. He and 7 more participants in the action are currently held in "Arbat" militia station. This has been reported by Alexander Belov himself in an interview to the "Novy Region". He explained that the picket was organized in support of a "just consideration of Arakcheyev's cassation" by the RF Supreme Court.

"Today, the Supreme Court considers the cassation complaint on the case of Sergei Arakcheyev. We came before the start of the court hearings, took the photographs of the convict, distributed them among the participants and wanted to wait for the start of the court hearings in order to enter the court room. The session was to be held in public. However, at this moment an UAZ with militiamen arrived, the chief of "Arbat" militia station got out of it and instructed the officers to detain everyone they could manage to detain. As a result, 7 persons were detained, including me ", reported Alexander Belov. He noted that the picket was effectively frustrated.
