Mukhu Aliev: Makhachkala is in the state of emergency

Today, President of Dagestan Mukhu Aliev has held an emergency meeting on the critical situation with electricity and heat supplies to residents of Makhachkala.

The today's situation in the city was reported by Abdurrahman Guseinov, deputy head of the administration of Makhachkala and head of the operative headquarters created in the city.

"As of today, in Makhachkala there is no electricity in 69 houses and one medical establishment, and heat is absent in 70 houses, 3 municipal educational institutions, 7 schools and 5 medical establishments," Mr Guseinov has informed.

"The city is in emergency," Mukhu Aliev said. "Residents have no heat and electricity, while casinos, gambling houses, offices, car washings and publicity boards are on round the clock. Electricity should be first of all cut-off from these facilities."

While the meeting at the President's went on, residents of Makhachkala started new protest actions against the absence of electricity and heat in their houses. Dwellers of one of the districts have blocked traffic in the street in protest against the policy of the authorities, who, as they said, are unable to bring Makhachkala back to order.
