Public prosecutor asks 10 years of colony for Bukreev who sentenced Budanov

The prosecutor asked the court to sentence Vladimir Bukreev, former deputy chair of the North-Caucasian Regional Military Court, who passed a verdict of guilty in 2003 to Yuri Budanov for killing a Chechen girl, to ten years of imprisonment.

Alexander Minchanovskiy, press secretary of the Moscow Regional Military Court, has reported that today during the hearing, which started on April 16, the prosecutor asked to find Bukreev guilty of a swindle and appoint a punishment for him in the form of ten years of imprisonment in a minimum security (general regime) colony.

Besides, the prosecutor asked the court to deprive Bukreev for three years of the right to take organizational-administrative positions in the army, as the "Gazeta.Ru" reports. The prosecution also asks the court to deprive Bukreev of his military rank of colonel of justice and governmental awards.

Leonid Bondarenko, Vladimir Bukreev's advocate, stated back on April 16 that he would insist on a "non-guilty" verdict. Bukreev also continues to assert that he is innocent. "I did nothing illegal, and there're no proofs of my guilt," said the ex-judge, as quoted by the GZT.RU. "The presented proofs are either false or faked."

Earlier, the former judge stated that "the operative and inquiry actions were prejudiced, there were no proofs found, therefore, the staff of the investigatory group changed repeatedly, and the inquiry was deliberately protracted."
