President of Abkhazia will run for his second term

President of Abkhazia Sergey Bagapsh plans to run for his second term at the presidential election to be held in Abkhazia this December.

"I'll probably run for the second term, as under the Constitution of Abkhazia, President has the right to be elected twice in a row each time for five years," Mr Bagapsh said on April 17 in a press conference in Moscow.

The ITAR-TASS reports that the Abkhazian leader has noted: "Before the election, there can be a spread of opinions, but thereafter, all the people should respect the majority's choice. This is the only way to a civilized, democratic state."

Mr Bagapsh has emphasized that he plans to announce his decision to take part in the forthcoming election later in April, as the "Interfax" reports.
