In opinion of political scientist Agasi Yenokian, rapid development of Karabah conflict settlement issue should be awaited

The seminar "New Geopolitical Reality and the Southern Caucasus", which was organized by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung and the center of political researches "Amatsaytutyun", took place on September 17. It was devoted to the regional problems of the Southern Caucasus, evaluation of the situation that has arisen in the world after the terrorist act of September 11, 2001, and possible evolution in the region of the Large Near East.

Political scientist Agasi Yenokian stated in his appearance that the United States were putting into practice the program "Large Near East" (LNE) aimed at creating a large regional unit equal to Europe (NOTE OF THE "CAUCASIAN KNOT": the term "LNE" includes the Southern Caucasus, Middle Asia, and the Near East). This program provides for the settlement of the conflicts being in existence in the region, economic development of the regions included into this large regional unit, and strengthening of democracy as well.

Yenokian paid attention to the fact that Europe, unlike the US, considered the Southern Caucasus in the context of the Caucasus. According to his estimation, taking into account the processes of putting the program "LNE" into practice, the rapid development of the Karabah conflict settlement issue should be awaited.
