Azerbaijan: participant of anti-Israeli protests in Nardaran detained

Yesterday, on February 2, late at night, the police arrested Khikmet Veliev, a resident of Nardaran and an active participant of recent anti-Israeli actions held in this settlement located 30 km north-east of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by local residents, who preferred to remain anonymous that operative agents detained Veliev at home, giving no explanations to his family. Nobody knows where he is kept now and what agency has arrested him.

Attempts of the correspondent to get any comments at the Sabunchin District Police Department and at its Police Station No. 14, which is in charge of Nardaran, gave no results. The on duty units of both police structures have stated that they have no information about Veliev's detention.

Local residents assume that he was detained, most likely, for organization of protest actions this January against Israel's warfare in Gaza Strip.
