Swimming race in ice-cold water held in Volgograd

The II international Russian championship in 71 km marathon swimming race in ice-cold water is to open today in Volgograd. It will last for two days. It is expected that more than 100 best marathon swimmers from Russia, CIS and other foreign countries will take part in it.

"The fans of racing in ice-cold water are going to mark three dates, Winter Swimming Day, Tatiana's day and the 71st birthday of Vladimir Vysotski", note employees of the "Parus" yacht club named after V. Vysotski, which is the main organizer of the competition.

The tournament is to open on Saturday, January 24. The relay race in the 25 m ice hole will last 35-40 hours, until the night of January 25, reports "Interfax-Yug".

Presentation of the book by Vladimir Koretski "Second Life of Vladimir Vysotski" will be held during the race in honor of Vysotski, reports the "Volgograd News" web page.
