Forty WW II artillery shells found in Rostov Region

On December 19, in Matveevo-Kurgan village, Rostov Region, forty unexploded shells remaining from the time of the World War II were found.

"On Friday in the afternoon, the workers engaged in excavations near the "Yakor" (Anchor) Memorial Complex found in the in the ground 40 shells of the WW II time," said a spokesman from the press service of the Central Department of the Ministry for Emergencies of the Rostov Region.

Currently, the place where the shells were found is cordoned off, and an application on de-mining has been filed, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

A similar finding in the Rostov Region was made on November 14 in the Neklinovskiy District, where 34 shells and 9 mines remaining from WW II time were found.
