Linguistic experts say they never called the Dagestan newspaper "Time of Actions" as extremist

Representatives of the Association of Linguistic Experts named "Argument", who were engaged in analyzing articles from the newspaper "Time of Actions", have stated that never treated the paper as extremist. Since judicial bodies only are entitled to qualify and, moreover, recognize this or that text or mass media as extremist.

In her conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, Indira Neflyasheva, executive secretary of the Association, has stated: "We see the mission of linguistic experts in making a balanced, unbiased assessment of words, expressions and utterances in their textual environment; an expert has no right to get beyond his or her competence. Therefore, it is counterproductive and incorrect to quote, without the context, individual phrases of the conclusion on the results of the linguistic examination of the text of the article "Bloody Boys in the Eyes", which as a whole was not so categorical and unequivocal."

Ms Neflyasheva says that words and statements having negative expressive shade were found in the text. "However, no words and utterances were revealed, which ascribe a negative estimate to persons of one nationality as compared with persons of other nationality. The analyzed text contains no appeals expressed in verbal form to any hostile or violent actions directed against the persons of a certain national identity," said the executive secretary of the Association of Linguistic Experts "Argument".

In the opinion of the Association, "texts similar to the analysed article, disputable from moral and ethical aspects, should be probably assessed first of all by the journalistic community, and to become a subject of an unbiased and impartial consideration of the "Grand Jury" of the Union of Journalists of Russia."
