General Prosecutor's Office: figurant in murder Politkovskaya used counterfeit documents

Today, at the process on the murder of journalist Anna Politkovskaya, the General Prosecutor's Office of Russia has demonstrated to jurymen two driver's licenses to different names which, under the version of the accusation, were used by accused Rustam Makhmudov, now announced into search.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the charges of murdering Politkovskaya had been presented to three figurants - Sergey Hadjikurbanov, Dzhabrail and Ibragim Makhmudov.

The prosecution has informed the jurymen that examination was held of two driver's licences to the names of Rustam Makhmudov and Nail Zagidulin. "Experts have concluded that photos of one and the same person are on both of them," the "Interfax" quotes the public prosecutor as saying.

The prosecution has also reported that a protocol on an administrative offence committed by Dzhabrail Makhmudov was found in the car belonging to Makhmudov brothers.

Besides, the prosecutors have reported that during the investigation a cellular telephone belonging to Dzhabrail Makhmudov was found in the car; the phone had a SIM-card, in which contacts were registered to the names "Ibragim", "Pavel", "Pavel-1", "Lom", "Seryoga.bum".

Makhmudov said that "Seryoga.bum" meant Sergey Hadjikurbanov (an accused on the case), and "Pavel" in his contacts stood for Pavel Ryaguzov (also a figurant in the case).

Dzhabrail Makhmudov has emphasized that he had confessed at the first interrogation that he knew these persons, and he "had never hidden this fact."

Prior to start of the session, the judge has also informed the parties that he had postponed the decision on the petition of the defence to request the billing of Politkovskaya's telephone conversations on the day of her murder.

According to RIA "Novosti", the state prosecutors have also presented a map, showing the action radius of the cellular phones that belonged to the defendants, as well as the supposed location of the defendants - Ibragim and Dzhabrail Makhmudov. The prosecution believes that the defendants were shadowing Politkovskaya.

Also, the accusation, when showing the map depicting the operation radius of the mast of one of the cellular companies, indicated that the phones of accused Makhmudovs were within the range of this mast.

The prosecutors have emphasized that on the day of Politkovskaya's murder, at about 4 p.m., Ibragim and Dzhabrail Makhmudov phoned each other, then the suspected killer got out of the car and went to the house doorway. After the murder of Politkovskaya was committed at about 4:07 p.m. on October 7, a minute later, according to the prosecutors, the brothers again had a phone contact.
